Transporting Box Spring On Car Roof

Tags / alternativism fever

In this day and age, and a modern, cosmopolitan city full of options such as Madrid (or London or Berlin or New York, anyway), there are thousands of options and sub-groups that ascribe (modern hippie , gafapastero gay neighborhood canines, Choni, poker, emo, goth, mod, indie ...). Before it was as belonging to one of these groups (by the roll of assertiveness or because of any real need, it does not matter). But now the latest, most broken, is to avoid labels. Something in principle plausible, because in the end, and except for some short-sighted, the labels do not define anyone. But the flight of the labels is a dangerous game, because he has finished becoming another label again, even more likely if it fits. In Madrid every time you hear more this "I'm sick of La Latina," or that "Chueca is a boring, too trendy." Lavapiés Malasaña or even nothing is said, perhaps because the first quarter is in the process of rediscovery and conversion, and because the second has just started to become fashionable. But La Latina and Chueca are too long in fashion, and of course, are no longer alternative.

not confuse me, and I am one that is already long bored of these two neighborhoods, and sometimes (and it seemed impossible to me) to Madrid makes me lazy and as a tool autoafirmatorio for that kid who wanted to escape the mediocrity of the South. Because I discovered long ago that south of mediocre, neither had much, and that just take you a close, 20 minutes from the Puerta del Sol you encounter poor environments and oppressive than any Andalusian village.

And it's okay to have rediscovered the south, and have realized that Madrid is not gold that glitters. But from there to the rejection and will pose a stretch. I still clear that Madrid is the best thing that could happen, with the Chueca and the America that can be trite, or this or that Malasaña Lavapiés as the genesis of the new.

Madrid has also become in recent years in a living monument to the megalomania autoafirmatoria (sometimes impostada, at times wildly funny and unparalleled in Spain). Five or six nights a year in white (the museums, theaters, libraries of ...), the night of the shops open, the hippies and craft positions in each and every one of the squares, stands tour, the 100th anniversary of the Great Way, the Book Fair, May 2, San Isidro, the Dove. Having no party appealing, if a city without identity, Madrid has become the city of street concerts and festivals. What then? "Joining the increasingly crowded mass more the center of the city or to live apart? I've always been much mass, and decided to live in Madrid because of that (and it does not in any neighborhood, but in the Gran Via), but this weekend I succumbed to the fever of the alternatives.

has been fair in the Pride, which is already a few years ago the Festival of Madrid, the most megalomaniac of all (even more than the failure or the San Fermin festival or Easter in other cities). And it was not love, because I've been carried away. Living in the Gran Via, one thing I've seen, it was inevitable, but I have not participated. To make matters worse, the big night of Pride, Saturday, I preferred to spend it on a friend's house watching the Spain-Paraguay, and then taking cucumber gin and tonics (the new thirties fever Madrid) while listening to vinyl records of the sonatas of Beethoven by Barenboim. In these times, nothing more obscure than a night like that, kid.

leaving the house of these friends, I spent close to the Plaza of Spain, and saw the mass away and heard the cheers of the performance of Kylie Minogue. What laziness, I thought, still imbued alternativism fever, feeling liberated from the topic and you dilute the dough. And I walked to my house with a detour to avoid the Gran Via

Two days later, I talk to these many other friends who were there at the Gran Via, and saw the parade, and they were in the streets of Chueca, one night in which he also mixed gay party with the football fans for victory of Spain, which drags vuvuzelas and danced together. Tell me everything and I alternativism rush down to the feet, replaced by envy and the feeling of having fallen into a trap.

Yes, indeed, care labels. Assertiveness is a roll and does nothing to constrain people. But beware of them also flee at all costs, because it can be even more dangerous. Or at least, far more boring.
